So Long, Insecurity



        "So Long, Insecurity" is a book written by Ms. Beth Moore. It discusses many teenage girls issues nowadays like popularity, insecurity, fashion, and attention from boys.

          The book has several essential and factual contents that are very much appealing and in tune with what teenage girls are into this generation. Most girls love to answer personality tests in the magazines, this book has such tests to guide us regarding the issues we face everyday. It also has some biblical stories, like the story of Queen Esther, that we can all relate to. Furthermore, the book includes Beth's encouragement for all the girls out there. Among all other features that So Long, Insecurity have, the most helpful and remarkable one is that, it contains interviews from Christian teenage girls who experience these struggles yet continue to experience total security in God's love for them.

           As I read this book, I recall how God has truly changed my life from an insecure girl to a Princess Warrior in His eyes. For so long, I've dealt with issues I thought were merely normal. But I've learned that if we do not deal with this at a young age, we will most likely carry this until we get old. That is why before looking for what others might think of us; before putting our love and effort on worldly things; and before thinking how better or worse we are than any other girls, LET US LOOK AT THE TRUTH IN THE BIBLE OF HOW GOD LOVES US IMMEASURABLY AND HOW PRECIOUS WE ARE IN HIS EYES. We are created in His own image (Genesis 1:26-27). His thoughts about us is precious and innumerable (Psalm 139:13-18). He knows what we need even before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8).

              The "So Long, Insecurity" is a must-read book especially for teenage girls of different culture and background. It does not apply only for Westerners but for all girls around the world. Simply because  it does not speak of who we are in the world's view but it speaks of our genuine, authentic and TRUEST identity - our identity in God. I totally recommend this book to all those women who want to kiss their insecurities goodbye.

As part of Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary's vision to bridge cultures for Christ, the school sent four mission teams led by students during last year's Christmas break. One of which is a sports mission team. Last December 20, 2013, a group of people (students, professors, children) from the seminary visited the Angono Football Club to minister to its football players. ANSWERED PRAYER

"I am a God of faith and I'm going to honor your faith." "I'm going to do it swiftly in my time." - This is part of the prophetic word I received this year. One month has passed since the Lord answered my prayer.  I'm writing here in (insert country here) as a proof that God is truly a God of faith.   Five years ago, I stood up in church, claiming God's heart for me to serve Him as a world missionary. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Words are very powerful. If there is something that can gash a heart more than a sword, those would be the words from anyone whom we allow to hurt us. It hurts even more when the words come from our own mouth. Lately, I found myself asking questions that eventually keep me down. "Am I fat?" "Why am I alone again?" "Why do I look ugly?" "Why am I so foolish?" "When will I learn?" "Will I ever get _______(fill in the blank with something I want or need)? And then I would impulsively reply negative answers to my own questions. It went on and on until I finally realized that telling myself negative things about me isn't making me any wise. It makes me feel disappointed. It makes me feel down. It makes me feel hopeless. These questions are fatal. It will lead to nowhere but misery and despair. These are the questions everyone should avoid as long as the only answers we can give ourselves are the negative ones. B
