SELLING THE CURE FOR A BROKEN HEART

Image
During these dark, cold nights I ponder on thoughts kept deep within my wounded heart.... If I would know the instant cure of a broken heart, I'll surely buy some for me and my friends. But God intended only one way to mend a broken heart, it is His way, the Only way, the One way. 1   This way does not promise an easy road, in fact He said it comes with tribulations. 2 This way might take longer than what we expect or can even bear. 3 In this way, you will be tempted to go back and make your own way of self-reliance and self-protection, but of course it won't lead you to the right end. 4 Whatever cons this Way might have, this is the only Way to a whole, redeemed and happy heart. In fact, it does not just promise our hearts to be mended, it also promised to give us a new heart. 5 Its bonus is an everlasting relationship 6 with the One who wipe the tears away. 7  Surely, this is a good cure! But do you know what's the best thing about it? IT IS FOR FREE!!

"You be Jesus and Let God be God"

Disclaimer: This is not a title that I made. This is a title of a preaching under the Elevation church. Mrs. Holly Furtick, the wife of the senior pastor of the Elevation church, shared this preaching. This blog is mostly about my reflection from the preaching of Mrs. Furtick. I was so encouraged to share my thoughts when I heard this message from an online preaching compilations. This has been so helpful for me especially in dealing with the issues I have in life. YOU BE JESUS There's a mother who has 2 sons. She was cooking some pancakes for her sons. Her sons kept on shouting,"Let me have the first one!" "No it's mine." "It's mine!" So the mother paused for a while and told her sons,"You know what, if Jesus was here, He'd choose to be last because He'd rather give you the first than claiming He deserves the first even when He truly deserves it. That's how Jesus loves us all." Then the first son talked to his brot

LUWALHATI NG MAYNILA

Image
Today is our visit to the institute "Luwalhati ng Maynila." This institute cares for the elders of our community who were not properly taken care of by their families. Just a thought of this place makes my heart beat so fast because I have a soft heart for the elders. I am very much excited to see them gathered together and to see how God will mightily move in this place. We went inside the hall and they all greeted us with big smiles on their faces. Some offered their seats. I preferred to stand because it is their day and they are the ones who needed to be served. We started with praise and worship songs. I can clearly see that there are elders who freely worship God with all their strength. There was also this inspirational message given by one of the volunteers. Aside from the message, the elders were serenaded by two excellent bands. Truly, there was joy ringing in their hearts. As the sessions started, I walked towards the elders at the back because they

Conquer the Fear

Image
"As frightening as it may be, that pain will make you stronger.    Yet if you are bound to be able feel it, embrace it.    It will make you more powerful than you have ever imagined.    It’s the greatest gift that we have; to bear that pain without breaking.    And it’s fallen from the most human path: hope.    Please, Charles we need you… to hope again." –Charles Xavier Just like the young Charles Xavier, I fear pain. I fear getting hurt. I fear making mistakes. Because of this fear, I do not usually take risks. I would rather stay where I am, where it is safe rather than take the step out of my comforts. If I was the young Charles Xavier, I would probably do the same – drug myself to avoid what causes me pain and not to want it back again. But the Old Charles Xavier is right; pain makes us stronger even if it is hurts. There are also instances that even if the fear is real the danger isn’t. We live in fear of something that might not even ha

VACATION LESSONS

"Hurray!" This was my first thought when I learned I'll be out of work in a few days. But as it started, I realized how boring it is to rest all day for a couple of weeks. And because I don't want to waste a precious time, I wrote some of the things I've learned in this new season of mine.  1. God does not love us based on what we do. He loves us simply because He is the One who created us.                    I love dedicating my work to God. It feels good working hard and           accomplishing things for the glory of God. And so during this unemployment          season, I become frustrated because I haven't done anything worthy for the          Lord. I felt anxious every single day. I have forgotten the purpose of my          life. But by the grace of God, I have learned one more time that my IDENTITY           is not defined by what I do. God loves me for who I am. God knows every bit          of me (Psalm 139:13). God even loves me whi

C is for CHRIST

I started 2014 knowing God's call for me with great assurance. He said I'll be leaving my country to be a tentmaker in Singapore. The favor of the Lord is always upon me as I take a leap of faith in letting my family and my leaders know God's plan this year. That is one of my assurance that I am not doing this just because of my own desires but because He commands me to do it.     As one application is on hold, God opened another opportunity for me to become a preschool teacher in Singapore. They said I needed to prepare a demo-teaching and storytelling in the day of my application. I knew right there and then that I am going to demo-teach the Letter C in Phonics. And it was amazing how my preparation led me from one thing to another.     As I pray about it, I asked God why He impressed the letter C as the topic of my lesson. Then He finally answered: C is for CHRIST . To all readers, may I ask you to stand with me in prayers as I believe and claim God'

GOAL

As part of Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary's vision to bridge cultures for Christ, the school sent four mission teams led by students during last year's Christmas break. One of which is a sports mission team. Last December 20, 2013, a group of people (students, professors, children) from the seminary visited the Angono Football Club to minister to its football players. Sticky earth on our cleats The afternoon started with orientation and introductions. The kids showed enthusiasm as they looked at an intercultural, inter-racial group of people. (I guess, having people from other countries really creates excitement for Filipinos.) We had games and some football matches. The players were also divided into groups for short conversations (which centered on teaching about reaching our goals and telling them how God is very important for us to reach goals) and prayer time. It was a very short time. Yet, I know that the Lord has touched both the lives of the Angon
